A Veterans Day Tribute

A Veterans Day Tribute. thumbnail262372

Students and staff collaborated on a meaningful tribute for Veterans Day called the Hallway of Heroes. Filled with the names and photos of veterans and active service members from the school family, the display celebrated the dedication, sacrifice and bravery of those who served and are currently serving the country.

Students and faculty also attended a Veterans Day assembly with an historian and retired Ocean Beach Police Officer, who captivated the students with stories from his time as a soldier. He also showed them his collection of military uniforms and headgear from World Wars I and II, Vietnam and the modern era. Additionally, Woodhull School received a special video message from an active Army soldier — the son of a Woodhull staff member— who shared a glimpse of his life in the military.

Students also wrote thank-you cards to these heroes, expressing their appreciation through thoughtful words and colorful drawings.

The district expresses its deepest gratitude to the veterans and active service members who protect and defend the nation’s cherished freedoms.
