The Fire Island Community Library services the residents and summer community of Fire Island. A valid driver's license is required to obtain a library card, giving patrons access to the over 10,000 in-print materials in our comprehensive catalog, including periodicals. Additionally, the library is equipped with computers for patron use and free Wi-Fi on site, both subject to compliance with the Wireless Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Materials are circulated for a period of two weeks and are renewable by phone or in-person. There is a $.10 per day overdue charge for materials that are not returned on time and there will be a $3.00 charge for lost or damaged library cards.

Fire Island residents may also visit the Patchogue-Medford Library (54-60 East Main Street, Patchogue) and register for a "local use only" Patchogue-Medford "central library" card that will allow them full access to the collections and services of the Patchogue-Medford Library. Residents with these central library cards can use the cards to access materials and collections of various Suffolk County public libraries as well as the features of live-brary.com, which include e-book downloads, live study help, and commercial databases.
