Notice of Biennial Census
New York State Law requires the taking of a biennial school census (whether or not children reside in the household) to record all children between birth and 18 years of age who reside in the Fire Island School District. This information is not for tax purposes. The census is a vital part of projected school planning. When you receive it in the mail, please fill out our census form and return it to the school by February 1, 2012. Please be sure to include all preschool, private and parochial school students. If you have not received a census form, please call the District office at (631) 583-5626.
Lunch Box Treats
Once a month, the Lunch Box Parents at Woodhull School in Fire Island host a hot-themed lunch for the students. “As we have no cafeteria in our school, students bring bagged lunches every day, so this is a treat that they look forward to every month,” remarked teacher of special assignment Peggy Danziger.
In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, the parents treated students to a special hot lunch. The students were able to feast upon turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes. Additionally, the students played special games and activities, including hot potato and a memory match game.
